Show the right price
Calculate tax, customs duty, shipping and fully landed cost before payment or before fulfilment - depending on your process.
Unexpected cross-border charges cost sales and customers, cause delivery delays and refusals, increase support demand and damage reputations.
Calculate the fully landed price before payment, so your customer pays once - at checkout.
ePAL calculates tax, customs duty and optionally shipping at checkout, then optimises each basket using the rules that apply to the products, customer and destination.
Supports sales to the EU, US and major trade routes, shipping from anywhere, subject only to the routes supported by your chosen shipper or ePAL's partner shipping aggregators.
See ePAL in action →Available now: WooCommerce for calculation in checkout, Shopify for validation and optimisation after checkout and before shipping, and a direct API for either workflow.
Available directly for merchants or through agencies, platforms and fulfilment partners.
What ePAL changes
ePAL evaluates the products, origins, destination and available compliant tax and duty treatments, then provides one landed price and the data needed to deliver on your promise: no surprise charges at delivery.
Calculate tax, customs duty, shipping and fully landed cost before payment or before fulfilment - depending on your process.
Avoid blanket rules and unnecessary charges by applying the best compliant treatment available for every basket, including reduced or zero-rated tax and optimised customs duty.
Retain the calculation and decision records needed for fulfilment, customs clearance, tax and duty reclaims, reporting and audit.
See a genuine US-to-Ireland basket showing the charges calculated before the customer pays.
Coverage and capabilities
Sell B2C into supported markets from anywhere your carrier can collect. Alternatively, use one of ePAL's default carriers.
ePAL is shipper agnostic: if your shipper supports the route, ePAL needs only the shipping amount. If you want to ship somewhere new and don't have a carrier, ePAL will fill in the gap until you do.
Calculate product tax, customs duty, tax on duty, shipping and tax on shipping across major trade routes, with coverage continuously expanding.
AI-assisted product classification with human verification, real-time sanctions, restrictions and excise checks.
Generate shipping labels and customs outputs, maintaining consistency with checkout and fulfilment data as the source of truth.
Access registration, VAT reporting and returns through specialist partners, with data to maximise tax and duty reclaims on returned goods.
The new normal for merchants selling to the EU
The €3 duty is not simply a charge per parcel or per physical product. Classification, description, origin and declaration-line grouping can materially change the total your customer pays.
This is just one example of the destination-specific rules ePAL manages across supported markets. Our guide explains the rules and shows how to check the result from catalogue to customs declaration.

Imagine a customer buys five products and has them shipped to Ireland. This illustrates the cost of applying €3 to every unit instead of dynamically grouping products that share the same eligible classification.
Products are listed for illustration. In this example, all five products share the same HS6 classification. Actual classification and eligibility for grouping depend on factors including materials, construction, product characteristics and country of origin.
Illustrative checkout total
Illustrative checkout total
The first calculation does not understate duty, but separately declaring products that qualify for grouping results in unnecessary duty and VAT on duty.
This simplified illustration assumes a 23% VAT rate and excludes shipping.
A real optimised checkout
These three different books can legitimately share the same HS6 classification based on content, so ePAL treats them as one for customs purposes.
The ePAL 'Cross Border Calculator' identifies all of this in the checkout:
Shopper sees
Merchant and fulfilment team receive
Behind the checkout
The checkout calculation is only the customer-facing part of ePAL. Merchants also receive access to the portal for usage reporting, transaction records, funds management, product configuration and control over the service providers used in their cross-border process.
Merchant-controlled providers
Merchants can select the providers ePAL should use for services such as shipping, tax-rate calculation and reporting, customs duty rates and other specialist functions.
This allows a merchant to use ePAL's default services where convenient while retaining existing provider contracts where those arrangements are commercially or operationally preferable.
Try it with your own products
Don't take our word for it. Calculate fully landed cost using your own products and destinations.
After-checkout optimisation
Replace the delivery surprise with a checkout promise.
Some merchants and platforms can't, or don't want to, include tax and duties at checkout. This leads to surprise charges, delivery refusals or returns, angry customers and bad reviews.
For DAP shipments - sometimes still described as DDU - ePAL can calculate the fully landed price either at checkout or immediately before shipping. This allows merchants, 3PLs and carriers to trigger a tax and duty payment request before the consignment is dispatched.
The result is:
Calculate
Tax and duty calculated at or after checkout.
Collect
Request the tax and duty before shipping / delivery.
Deliver
Streamlined delivery and customs clearance.
Repeat
Happy customers are repeat customers.
Partner-enabled customs pre-clearance planned for Ireland, the Netherlands, the UK, Canada and the US, making customs clearance and delivery even more efficient.
Pricing
Pay for completed cross-border baskets, not abandoned checkouts, API calls or a shelf full of modules.
of the checkout price.
The fee is capped at €1 per basket, so any basket with a total consumer charge above €66.67 costs €1.
No credit card required until you've processed €10,000 in transactions and want to continue.

Live merchant case study
A specialist UK merchant integrated their custom-developed store with ePAL via direct API integration to return to EU selling.
ePAL integration took days. Regulatory administrative activities took much longer (the lesson being: start early!). Soon, this merchant was selling consignments to customers in five countries, with that number continuing to grow.
